Style for the Cure Kicks Off at The Mall at Short Hills

6TH ANNUAL STYLE FOR THE CURE KICKS-OFF AT THE MALL AT SHORT HILLS


The Mall at Short Hills and Susan G. Komen for the Cure North Jersey kicked off the 6th annual Style For The Cure fundraising event at The Mall at Short Hills on October 2, 2008.

The purpose of the private event was:

~ To kick-off Style For The Cure, The Mall at Short Hills fundraising event for the North Jersey Affiliate.

~ To unveil the Affiliate's Journeys of Courage floor banners. The inspirational floor banners, which feature compelling testimonials of Breast Cancer survivors and those who have lost their battle with the disease, will remain on display at The Mall at Short Hills though October.

~ To unveil the Affiliate's display on The Mall at Short Hills' Community Wall located on the lower level which promotes Komen's Teens for the Cure campaign and announces the Affiliate's second annual Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure North Jersey, taking place on April 26, 2009 at the Essex County Branch Brook Park in Newark, NJ.

~ To raise awareness about early detection helping to save lives.

Guests at the private unveiling included many of the women and men featured on the Journeys of Courage banners and their families, the teens featured on the Community Wall, Affiliate members and volunteers, and The Mall at Short Hills' management department. The event was generously catered by Legal Sea Foods at The Mall at Short Hills.

Style For The Cure will continue through October at The Mall at Short Hills. For every Mall at Short Hills Gift Card purchased at Guest Services, The Mall at Short Hills will donate $5 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure North Jersey. As a thank-you, customers will also receive a special keepsake pink ribbon t-shirt (while supplies last; one per customer). The Mall at Short Hills is also offering a take-one piece at Guest Services that details stores' fundraising efforts for Breast Cancer Awareness Month regardless of the breast cancer organization funds are being raised for. Some stores participating in such campaigns include Ann Taylor, California Pizza Kitchen, Coach, Lacoste, MaxMara, Moonstruck Chocolate Cafe, Movado, Optica and Tiffany & Co.

For the forth consecutive year, The Mall at Short Hills again participated in The North Jersey Affiliate's Tie a Ribbon campaign, tying over 300 trees on the exterior of the shopping center with pink breast cancer awareness ribbons. The ribbons will remain on display through October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

In addition, customers can visit an informational table in The Mall at Short Hills for educational literature from the Komen North Jersey Affiliate. Komen representatives will be at the table, located on the lower level near Guest Services, every Friday – Sunday through October.

Susan G. Komen For The Cure North Jersey, located in Summit, was established in 1997 and serves nine counties in northern New Jersey (Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Morris, Passaic, Sussex, Somerset, Union and Warren). Since inception, the Affiliate has granted over $10 million to community-based programs in its service area focusing on the medically underserved and uninsured. In addition, the Affiliate has contributed over $4.5 million to the Komen Foundation Award and Research Grant Program.

The Mall at Short Hills is located at Route 24 and JFK Parkway in Short Hills, New Jersey, and features Bloomingdale's, Macy's, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Saks Fifth Avenue and 175 fine stores and services. Shopping hours are 10am to 9pm Monday through Friday, 10am to 7pm on Saturday and noon to 6pm on Sunday. Department store and restaurant hours may vary.
